It is said that the Torah is as full as a pomegranate. Why did the sages choose the pomegranate? Because in most types of fruit, there’s a small space full of air. The Torah, like the pomegranate, is so full of seeds there’s not even a drop of air.
To illustrate this saying, I chose to fill the pomegranate with all the letters, from aleph to taf, which are used to write the Torah. -

The alms box designed in the shape of a barley seed section decorated with spikes was inspired by the book of Ruth, also called “Song of Songs of Charity”.
In the Book of Ruth we find a special kind of charity. Boaz invites Ruth to glean in his field and asks her not to glean in someone else’s field. Ruth returns to her mother in law, Naomi,and tells her where she gleaned the barley. She says: “The name of the man I spent the day with is Boaz” (Ruth 2/19).
The Midrash says: It is explained in the name of Rabbi Yoshua, that more than the Owner does for the poor, the poor does for the owner. That is why Ruth said: “The name of the man I spent the day with” and not “who spent the day with me” .

Nightingale Seder Plate

the perimeter and ibexes in the center. The Hebrew text around the perimeter is
taken from King Solomon’s Song of Songs: Hanitzavim niru ba’aretz; Et hazamir

On the Sabbath of Hol Hamoed Pessah we use to read in the synagogue the
Song of Songs,which,according to many commentators,
Is an allegory illustrating the relationship between the nation of Israel and their
God. In Midrash Raba we find a picturesque image referring to the verse “O
my dove that art in the depth of the rock in the secretPlaces of the stairs,let me see thy countenance,let me hear thy voice…
( Song of Songs, 2/14 ).
Rabbi Ishmael teaches us the following; When the nation of Israel left Egypt,
what were they like? They resembled a dove fleeing from the hawk into a
crevice where it sees a nestling snake.It entered but could not go any further
because the snake was still nestling.It also culd not
Go back, because of the hawk outside.What did the dove do? It started
Screaming and flashing its wings so that the owner of the dovecote would
come and save it.This is what Israel looked like on the seashore
They could not go into the sea,because it was not yet split and they could not
go back because Pharaoh was getting close.What did they do? They
immediately appealed to God and Lord saved Israel that
day ( Exodus, 14/30 ).
